Frogfoot is looking for a Facilities Node Area Owner to join the Facilities Department.

Purpose of the Role

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being hands-on with network infrastructure, solving technical challenges, and ensuring that critical systems run reliably. As a Node Area Owner, you will oversee the telecommunications infrastructure and electrical systems within your designated region. You will work on AC/DC power systems, generators, and telecom equipment, while applying a methodical and detail-oriented approach to every task.

This role suits someone who is organised, technically curious, and comfortable managing both the physical and administrative aspects of network nodes — including working with optical and switching equipment, and optimising cabinet design and layout for maximum efficiency and uptime.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Maintenance & Infrastructure Management

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and housekeeping of telco facilities to ensure operational readiness.
  • Support and maintain AC and DC power systems, including generators, batteries, inverters, rectifiers, and power distribution units.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of optical transmission and switching equipment.
  • Design and optimise cabinet layouts for efficient equipment placement, airflow, and future scalability.
  • Respond to facility-related incidents and emergencies, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal downtime.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards, electrical codes, and company policies.

Documentation, Planning & Coordination

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including maintenance logs, equipment records, and facility schematics.
  • Plan and roll out facility migration projects and assist with long-term and short-term operational planning.
  • Anticipate potential risks or operational issues and prepare mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate and facilitate activities during change control windows.
  • Manage projects related to new node builds within the allocated area.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams for upgrades, repairs, and facility improvements.

Leadership, Supervision & Team Support

  • Provide general coordination and oversight of all operational activities within the designated node area.
  • Issue clear verbal and written instructions to team members and maintain a strong physical presence to monitor outcomes.
  • Make informed decisions under pressure, including during emergencies or unexpected situations.
  • Encourage cooperation across teams, support a delivery-driven culture, and maintain high staff morale.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify operational issues, assess their impact, and determine effective solutions.
  • Test and implement corrective actions, monitor results, and adjust where necessary.
  • Evaluate processes and introduce improvements to enhance efficiency and network uptime.

Performance Management & Staff Development

  • Evaluate staff performance and submit quarterly reports to the HOD and Executive team.
  • Develop team members’ skills and provide training on all FF Maintenance systems.
  • Assess individual development needs and implement appropriate support or coaching programmes.

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

  • Good knowledge of AC/DC power systems and generator operations.
  • Experience with telecommunications infrastructure, including optical and switching equipment.
  • Experience with cabinet design, equipment layout, and cable management.
  • Valid driver’s license is required; EB license preferred for towing generators.
  • Excellent administrative and documentation skills.
  • Methodical, organized, and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
